A new set of pictures of the 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider emergedbefore its debut at Frankfurt Motor Show this year, and somehow, Cheers &Gears got a hold of these new pictures first.
Not much official information that we know from this new2012 Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, but from the photos, the new Ferrari Spider isvery similar to the Ferrari 458 with the absence of a roof. It seems like thenew Ferrari 458 Italia Spider has some sort of a snap-on hardtop instead ofretractable hardtop like others have speculated. It is hard to imagine aretractable hardtop folding into the rear where the big V8 engine sits, whichthere isn’t much room.
In comparison with the recent Ferrari 458 Italia coupe, weexpect the 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia Spider will be powered by the same 4.5-literV8 engine found in the 458 Italia coupe version. From what we know of the 458Italia coupe version’s V8 engine is that it produces about 570 horsepower and398 pound-ft of torque, and it is mated to a 7-speed F1 dual-clutchtransmission.
Hopefully, we will get some official pictures and detailsfrom Ferrari soon on the new 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia Spider.
