2013 Subaru BRZ’s tested performance numbers are out by Inside Line

If you are looking forward to buy the new 2013 Subaru BRZsports compact car because of its sportiness nature, you may be in for adisappointment. Inside Line of Edmunds.com has just done a performance test ofthe new 2013 Subaru BRZ at the track, and the results were just not up to parwith the expectation that the manufacturer made out to be during the marketingcampaign.

The 2013 Subaru BRZ is basically the identical twin of theToyota GT-86 and Scion FR-S. It is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder boxerengine producing 200 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 151pound-feet of torque. The engine can be either mated to a 6-speed manualtransmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

In the Edmunds’ Inside Line track test, the 2012 Subaru BRZcompleted the acceleration test from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds and a quarter-milerun in 15.3 seconds at 92.1 mph. Seriously, these numbers are no matched tomost new sedans currently in the market.

Think of going head-to-head with another sedan at the light?Well, think again, you will be disappointed. We’re thinking, we have been hadby Toyota and Subura’s marketing departments.

Unless Subaru slaps a turbo on the BRZ sports car, there isno way this will be an enthusiast car. Half-baked? Yes, it is.
